Using the Laser Module with HeadPLUS

The Laser Module provides an easy way to teach precise points for motion control, but it must be installed and used correctly based on your HeadPLUS version.

How to Install the Laser Module

1. Check the Included Parts:
   
   
   • The laser module comes with an extra piece magnetically attached.
2. Depending on Your HeadPLUS Version:
   
   
   • HeadPLUS v1 or v2: Attach the extra piece under the L-bracket.
   • HeadPLUS v3: Remove the extra piece; attach the laser directly onto the designated place on the L-bracket.
3. Connect the Cable:
   
   
   • Plug the cable into the port labeled “Laser” on HeadPLUS.

How to Activate the Laser Module

• Enter Point Mode.
• Press and hold any empty point slot.
• Select the Laser option when it appears.
• The laser pointer will now activate.

Important Tips and Limitations

• Bright Sunlight:
  Laser may not be visible under strong sunlight or daylight conditions.
• Transparent or Reflective Surfaces:
  Laser may not perform accurate measurements.
• Very Dark Surfaces:
  Dark surfaces absorbing too much light can cause inaccurate measurements.

Solution: Place a piece of paper under the laser spot before measuring on difficult surfaces.

Best Practices for Teaching Points

When tracking specific points like the center of an object (e.g., between two rails),
do not rely solely on laser measurements because the laser measures the first surface it hits.


Instead:

• Teach the point by showing it from two different angles.
• This method ensures accurate tracking of hidden or recessed points.
